HHY & The Macumbas
Porto collective HHY & The Macumbas compose mind-blowing permutations of experimental jazz, dubbed-out noise, and hypnotic African folk. Lead by artist Jonathan Saldanha and a rotating cast of players, this curious group draws from the militant energy of marching bands of the Ottoman empire, dark subterranean scenery and a sui generis ability to convert traditional styles into haunting sonic abstractions.
