Sounds of Cabo Verde
A celebration of music, migration, memory and cultural transmission, Grupo Pilon's energetic live show is a journey through their 40 years of history. Founded in Luxembourg in 1986 by the children of the first Cabo Verdean immigrants, they have become one of the longest-running funaná bands outside Cabo Verde. They have modernized the genre with a dynamic lineup that incorporates drums, guitar, bass, keyboards and vocals. For four decades, the group has preserved and revitalized the music of Santiago Island while building bridges between generations and communities across Europe.
This artist is part of Sounds of Cabo Verde, a special program dedicated to the diversity of Cabo Verde music culture, its traditions and the Cabo Verdean diaspora in the Netherlands.
