Gigi Masin - Movement for
Curated by Los Thuthanaka
A trailblazing composer and multi-instrumentalist whose sound has evolved through ambient, jazz and electronic dance music, Gigi Masin is living his second life as an artist. In 1986, he released the ambient masterpiece Wind and then disappeared. Decades later, as a lot ambient classics resurfaced and his work was widely sampled, he returned crafting limpid piano melodies, swirls of synthesizer and foggy reverb, while exploring string-led classical minimalism, drowsy trip-hop and cinematic new-age atmospheres. Masin returns to Le Guess Who? to present his new album, Movement. The tracks are dynamic, draped in ambient hues but propelled by the vitality inherent to all great dance music. He calls it “music for moving the body”, rhythm for the romantic soul.
Los Thuthanaka, founded by siblings Chuquimamani-Condori and Joshua Chuquimia Crampton, bridges the past, present and future of the mighty Pakajaqui Nation—an Indigenous group from the Andes. Their music is a powerful blend of Andean rhythms, Aymara composition and psychedelic rock. For Le Guess Who? 2026, they curate a program featuring artists who explore Indigenous Andean culture and translate it into contemporary experimental, electronic and psychedelic forms.
