Film: Luzmila and the Birds
Friday
15:00 - 16:20
Zaal 2 - Slachtstraat Filmtheater
The documentary Luzmila and the Birds explores the life and work of one of the most important women in Latin America: the world-renowned Bolivian and Indigenous singer Luzmila Carpio. The film captures Carpio’s sensitive, magical birdsongs and her remarkable channeling of avian languages through the Quechua tongue as she communes with nature, traveling like a protagonist from one of Hermann Hesse’s meditative dramas, between temporal and sacred worlds. It’s the story of an artist guided by music, a cultural ambassador boldly defending her heritage, language and the land which she inhabits, the Pachamama.
