When ex- COIL member Drew McDowall decided to revive the group’s 1998 masterpiece ‘Time Machines’ to the present, two decades after its release, the joke was probably not lost on him. With each of Time Machines’ four tracks inspired by a type of hallucinogenic drug, the twisted fluctuations and tones do exactly what the title promises: warp and manipulate your entire perception of time. If it’s an escape from time you crave, let your psyche wash away in Drew McDowall’s high mass of pitch black proto-industrial drones.
