Amsterdam-based group Devon Rexi, founded by Nic Mauskovic (AKA Nicolini, former Le Guess Who? artist) and Nushin Naini, create dubby, playful experimental music. The fried-Farsi vocals are sung in the diasporic language of the ‘in between worlds’ - taking the listener to alternate realms of liminality. Otherworldly screeches and rings, intricate drum patterns, simple dubby bass lines and rhythmic guitar riffs guide you to the ready-to-explore corners of reality. On their recent release, the five track Mini-LP ‘Biya Ba Man’ (2024), the band expands to a quintet.
