Comunidad Sikuris Berlin
Curated by Los Thuthanaka
Coming together around the ancient art of playing the sikus (the traditional Andean panflute), Comunidad Sikuris Berlin is a group of people from different nationalities who have immigrated to Germany. They cultivate the concept of reciprocity and exchange that is present in every expression of the 14000 years old Andean culture. Through this ancient yet vital practice—performing traditional sikuri, accompanied by percussions—they participate in solidarity movements and struggles for the rights of Indigenous peoples, and they issue a global call to care for, preserve, and honor Pachamama, (Mother Earth).
This artist is part of the program curated by Los Thuthanaka. The duo, founded by siblings Chuquimamani-Condori and Joshua Chuquimia Crampton, has curated a program featuring artists who explore Indigenous Andean culture and translate it into contemporary experimental, electronic and psychedelic forms.
