Like for Le Guess Who?, two decades have passed for GNOD, yet the psychic travelogue only becomes more enthralling as it goes on. To celebrate the shared anniversary, they return—louder and bigger—with a 7-piece band featuring two drummers and four guitarists. Since their inception, the band’s musical trajectory has been one of constant fluctuation through hypnotic grooves, blown-out distortion and explosive, free-form detours. Maximal yet minimal, claustrophobic yet expansive, free in approach yet mercilessly disciplined in their intensity—GNOD like every truly great band are a mass of contradictions—such is the way of the crooked path.
