Jessica Moss announces new album 'Phosphenes'; listen to first track 'Contemplation II'
Jessica Moss, a violinist and composer based in Montreal, will release her new album 'Phosphenes' (the phenomenon of seeing light without light entering the eye) on November 19th. Moss began her music career in 2014 and currently has four albums under her belt. She uses violin and vocal to create music that are inspired by Middle Eastern tropes.
Her newest album marks her most penetrating and relentless sound to date. The album is painted with somber determination and ferocity. Constellation Records describes this album as “slow-moving water in a dark cave, catching glints of luminescence from within.” 'Phosphenes' was recorded alone at home in her own rehearsal space and co-produced by Radwan Ghazi Moumneh at Hotel2Tango studio. Jessica Moss performs at Le Guess Who? 2021 as a part of a program curated by Matana Roberts. Also performing at the festival are a.o. Arooj Aftab, Suuns, Lucrecia Dalt, Faust, Mariee Sioux, Lucinda Chua, and many more.
