A genre-defying force in the world of rap and electronic music, producer DJ Haram is equally celebrated for her bass and club music heavy DJ sets, detail oriented analogue sound design, electronic-folk Middle Eastern production and abrasive rap collaborations. The DJ and producer recently announced her debut album Beside Myself, and now shares the single Distress Tolerance.
DJ Haram's Beside Myself is set for release on the 18th July via Kode9's label Hyperdub. The record features established collaborators such as Moor Mother, Armand Hammer and Aquiles Navarro - the latter will also join her on stage at Le Guess Who? 2025. Ahead of the upcoming release, DJ Haram speaks to The Quietus about her roots in New Jersey clubs and the Philadelphia underground, the complexities of DJing and identity, and charting her own path on the debut album.
