This week, COSMOS and Refuge Worldwide are bringing their ongoing partnership to life during Le Guess Who? 2024. Taking over the Pandora Foyer in TivoliVredenburg, this collaborative 4-day broadcast will be full of in-depth interviews, deep listening and dancefloor-ready DJ sets. Hosted by Refuge Worldwide’s own Richard Akingbehin, George Patrick, Jojo Caitlin and Shiru alongside author Emma Warren and COSMOS.
But first, we’re kicking off the week with two new episodes of the monthly COSMOS radio show on Refuge Worldwide. This time with mixes sourced from Sudan and Greece respectively.
Hassan Kamil
Hassan Kamil is a Sudanese photographer, filmmaker, and curator. He is a storyteller who uses both still and motion imagery to convey his messages. His work focuses on personal projects that explore humanitarian, cultural, historical, and political subjects, providing a unique and insightful perspective. In 2022, Hassan was part of the COSMOS Embassy in Khartoum, Sudan.
The second hour is curated by Greek DJ/producer Stathis Kalatzis, representing our COSMOS Embassy in Athens, stegi.radio.
The scene in Greece has undergone a renaissance of sorts, with Athens becoming a hotspot for creative minds from around the world. Here, DJ/producer Stathis Kalatzis – a mainstay of the Greek scene and a resident host of our COSMOS Embassy stegi.radio – has taken on the task to walk us through the bustling here-and-now of Athens subculture. Stathis Kalatzis, has been a mainstay of the Greek electronic scene for two decades. His approach, both as a DJ and a producer, has been all about finding that balance between raw energy, hypnotism, and patient storytelling. Although not the biggest fan of the term “multidisciplinary,” he is currently equally focused on painting and exploring ways to merge the two worlds moving forward.
