Valentín Clastrier
Curated by Animal Collective
The hurdy-gurdy is an instrument few play and less master, but Valentín Clastrier does. The French musician’s career started out eclectic, as he picked up on choral singing, the cornet, and the guitar (which he played alongside Belgian legend Jacques Brel). In the seventies, however, Clastrier was introduced to the hurdy-gurdy and has been mastering it since - from winning prizes as a soloist to developing new electro-acoustic prototypes for the instrument, as well as touring the world with it.
