Sons Of Kemet with Special Guests
Sons of Kemet’s latest record, ‘Black to the Future’, was released in May – mostly recorded after the murder of George Floyd. For The Guardian’s Kitty Empire, the album felt like an ‘eloquent dance between anger and joy’; a response from frontman saxophonist Shabaka Hutchings, who had previously flexed his revolutionary fluency with the band’s 2018 record, ‘Your Queen is a Reptile’. The group continues taking the British jazz scene to new, exciting, and important territories. For their Le Guess Who? performance, they invite on stage Joshua Idehen and Angel Bat Dawid - also featured on the record.
