Oliver Coates is an exceptional cellist, composer and producer from London. Guided by his atypical music tastes, Coates transcends the traditions of classical composition and finds a new definition for his beloved instrument, blending the digitally processed cello with avant-pop and disco experiments. Following collaborations with artists like Terry Riley and Thom Yorke, Coates released his debut LP ‘Upstepping’, filled with contrarian, minimalistic dance tunes, as well as ‘Remain Calm’: an improvisational record with Mica Levi.
