Emel Mathlouthi
Curated by Moor Mother
Singer-songwriter and producer Emel Mathlouthi combines the vibrant sounds of psychedelic folk with heavy electronics and atmospheric melodies. She gained global recognition when her recording 'Kelmti Horra (My Word Is Free)' went viral, which led to a memorable performance at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony. Through her music, however, Mathlouthi travels beyond political subtext, to – in her own words – "create music that’s on the frontline, not only of what it’s standing for, but also the quality of what people are listening to."
