Tara Clerkin Trio
On their self-titled debut EP, released in 2019, Bristol’s Tara Clerkin Trio capture a unique mood through their breed of smoky jazz, chamber-pop, trip-pop, and sometimes pure experimentalism. Their signature track, ‘Hellenica’, meshes jerky piano keys with ceremonial drums, later joined by shimmering synths and distant vocals. It feels like the musical equivalent of being in a state that is neither sleeping, nor awake; unnerving, but simultaneously impossible to stop giving in to.
