Roy Montgomery has been a staple artist of Kiwi imprint Flying Nun. The native of Christchurch lives in an environment often struck by natural disasters, which could be why his work generally has a surging, fractured quality to it. Montgomery’s baritone is a key characteristic in his music, which ranges from dreamy minimalist songs to primal currents of noise. Not all that surprising, given his fondness for free radicals like The Fall, Pere Ubu and The Velvet Underground. Montgomery will also perform a special set during our 12 Hour Drone.
