Mourning [A] BLKstar
'A band whose importance is fast becoming evident', wrote Wire Magazine's Neil Kulkarni on Mourning [A] BLKstar. The collective, made up of musicians, writers, and multimedia artists, has a bountiful track record, amassing several releases under its belt since 2015. The most recent is this year's 'Celestial Bodies', in which they cross paths with renowned Berlin-based dance company, Company Christoph Winkler, Adult Swim, and the Cleveland Museum of Art. Their music is for both eulogies and revolutions, as they expand upon contemporary Black consciousness by forging ongoing dialogues between hip-hop production techniques and live instrumentation.
