Liliane Chlela presents I, the hybrid and the antidote
Thursday
When electronic producer, DJ, and performer Liliane Chlela relocated from Lebanon to Canada in 2021, she was faced with a tough choice; as an artist from the diaspora navigating a mostly white music market, she could either tokenize herself or assimilate. She chose neither. ‘I, the hybrid and the antidote’ is her choice’s outcome, as Chlela continues to prove herself as a boundary-pushing voice in the international electronic scene, whose thoughtfulness always rises to the top. On the stage, Chlela turns to a group of exciting collaborators to premiere the project; from Utrecht’s Flare Quartet, to Cairo’s Nancy Mounir, to Beirut’s Yara Asmar, to Montreal’s Radwan Ghazi Moumneh.
