KOKOKO!
As a wind of change blows through Kinshasa - an alternative cultural scene that escapes the restrictive category of ‘world music’ -, the sound of the KOKOKO! project is heard in the air. Born from radical youth protest, the collective consists of artists known for rewiring and up-cycling materials such as metal, cans, engine parts, and plastic containers to make sculptural dance music. They provide the perfect soundtrack for the Congolese city’s harsh, yet explosively creative, reality.
