Ana Roxanne is a composer and vocalist whose personal, subtly experimental style blends decelerated jazz, minimalism and vocal folk forms, marked by a fascination for ambient music. Her new album, Poem 1, is an unguarded statement that channels her heartbreak and catharsis through the logic of her expressions, twisting out the edges of her memories into surreal, cinematic vignettes. Even though the confessional storytelling is steeped in grief, there is hope to be found in the subtlety, slowness and smoky melancholy of the piano themes, vulnerable vocals and dissociated synthesizer drones.
