Therefore, it is recommended to also look into accommodation options in the surrounding areas of Utrecht, where there might be more availabilities with budget friendly options.

If you are staying outside of Utrecht during the festival, there are trains and buses running throughout the day that connect you to cities, such as Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Hoofddorp, Amersfoort, Zeist, Hilversum and Woerden. After midnight, travel options from Utrecht to these cities are still available. See below for more information.
Important Travel Notice: Maintenance Work on Routes To/From Rotterdam
Please be aware that maintenance work is scheduled on the routes to and from Rotterdam during the festival weekend. This may result in delays of up to 60 minutes.
Traveling by train
You can travel between Utrecht Centraal and Amsterdam Centraal (28 minutes), Amsterdam Amstel (18 minutes) and Hoofddorp (40 - 58 minutes) by train, day and night. For other cities near Utrecht, check the tables below as a reference.

The Dutch Railways
To travel with NS (the Dutch Railways) you can either buy a single-use chipcard or an OV-chipkaart at the ticket machine (note: the OV-chipkaart can also be used to travel with public transport in Utrecht and most notably to hire a useful OV-bike at the NS stations). Purchased train tickets are valid from 0.00 AM on the travel date until 04.00 AM on the following morning.
