Ndox Electrique - Live at Le Guess Who? 2023
Relive Ndox Electrique live at Le Guess Who?, the first international performance of the genre-blurring musical ensemble that originated in Senegal, and whose music is inspired by an ancient ritual of the spirit-world originating from Senegal’s n’döep ceremonies.
About
How does one put Ndox Electrique into mere words? It is wild, dark, and solar; it is feminine and powerful, groovy and heavenly. Most importantly, Ndox Electrique is a ritual of possession which comes from Senegal’s N’döep ceremonies. On the stage, Ndox Electrique calls on the spirits to heal the modern world before them, with the aid of traditional incantations, dances, percussion, electric guitars, and laptops. A pact is made with the spirits. It takes much more than good intentions - but moving to the screeching music might just be the path to achieve salvation, whilst destroying and trading our tired cultural influences for something truly new.
