Recently, Colin Stetson has been teasing his new soundtrack for the far-from-typical horror film 'Hereditary'. You can now stream Stetson's full horrifying score below. While you're at it, you can also check out Pitchfork's interview with Stetson about the project, the terror of silence, and why there’s nothing scarier to him than “Little House on the Prairie.”
"Anything to do with strings and synths—the two things that are used exclusively for every horror score in existence. [Laughs] I had to get the job done, but I wanted to do so in a way that wasn’t recognizable, so I tried to achieve certain effects you’d traditionally get with a string ensemble, but using nontraditional instruments to do so. I went pretty hard into clarinets. When the PR team wrote a press release for the score, they made a note saying that we relied on a massive string ensemble, which I thought was funny—all of it is me playing and layering enormous amounts of clarinet." - Colin Stetson
Colin Stetson will perform at Le Guess Who 2018 together with a.o. Oliver Coates, Sons of Kemet XL, Kadri Gopalnath, Jozef van Wissem, Cüneyt Sepetçi, Greg Fox, Rizan Said, and many more.
