Reading Group hosted by Ksenia Kwiecińska
This month, Ksenia Kwiecińska’ll host the fourth reading group: a shared space to gather, reflect and think alongside one another.
Over the past several years, we've been actively reflecting (both internally and in dialogue with various collaborators) on how the relationships between (cultural) institutions and grassroots organizations, collectives and communities can be more thoughtfully nurtured. We recognize that these relationships require careful and sustained attention. With that in mind, we’re started this monthly reading group.
On Wednesday, 29 October, at 5:30 PM, Ksenia Kwiecińska will host the reading group. This session will be dedicated to exploring wonder as an exceptional kind of encounter. Together we’ll read through theoretical passages of Howard L. Parsons’ “Philosophy of Wonder”, Miranda July’s brilliant short story “This Person” and view Sophie Calle’s visual recording of people encountering the sea for the first time, "Voir La Mer".
At its most thorough and authentic wonder infuses relation with imaginative and persistent curiosity. But how to go forward from there, where can wonder take us? And to retract, what does it mean for us to wonder & how does it feel to do so in the first place?
