Colleen announces new double LP; listen to 'Subterranean (Movements I-II-III)'

French artist Cécile Schott, aka Colleen, is fearless when it comes to her willingness to explore new ways of expressing herself as a solo performer. Now, she announces Le jour et la nuit du réel: her first double LP and the follow-up to the glistening ambient pop of 2021's The Tunnel and the Clearing.

Le jour et la nuit du réel will be released by Thrill Jockey on 22 September. As the label explains: "the album’s construct falls into two larger sections, day and night. A kaleidoscopic range of sounds speckle the album’s seven suites, aiming to translate the range and nuance of emotions, both deeply personal and communal, and the complexity of identity, as we shift from day to night."

"I hope you will enjoy the 3 movements of "Subterranean”, named in reference to how deep the subconscious and our emotions run. The first movement made me feel like I was playing guitar in a rock band again, the second like I was almost making music for the dancefloor (*almost*) and the third like I was suddenly touching something very fragile, that might possibly break, and that was trying to come up to the surface" - Colleen

Colleen performs at Le Guess Who? 2023 on Saturday, 11 November. Also performing at the festival are a.o. James Holden, Alessandro Cortini, Faten Kanaan, Rachika Nayar, Vessel (live), and many more.
