Vampilia
As a live act, Japan’s Vampillia are an anomaly if there ever was one. They embrace and command both eerie silences and punishing volumes of dark oozing noise. It’s no surprise this 11-piece orchestra puts up a baffling spectacle: flamboyant prog rock, acidic black metal, poignant neo-classical minimalism and the faint but ever-present haunt of tantric vocals. Indeed, a band you’ll have to witness up close.
