Like Patrick Higgins, Tyondai Braxton is an innovator in the purest sense. As a former member of Battles, he ventured far beyond the outer dimensions of what we consider pop music. Braxton earned his stripes as a composer by working alongside luminaries such as Philip Glass and Kronos Quartet, and last year, he helmed a massive Manga-inspired production called ‘Telekinesis’. Ranging from glitchy electronics to full-on orchestral pizzazz, the one constant in his work is his power to shatter institutionalized music tropes and to reign chaos.
