Wie maakt de stad?
Discourse program
Please note: this conversation will be in Dutch.
Marischka Verbeek, owner of Utrecht’s renowned bookstore Savannah Bay, will enter into a conversation with a selection of Utrecht based creatives, determining how decolonial, feminist and queer narratives influence their creative work, but also researching how these narratives play an import role when it comes to shaping the culture of the city of Utrecht. It is often assumed that NL based discussions centered around gender, diversity, colonial history and inclusivity within cultural spaces can be found in Amsterdam and Rotterdam. When one thinks of Utrecht, these topics may not be the first that come to mind. Yet, Utrecht has a long history of subversive cultural expressions that have long been going against the grain. How has this influenced the city and how does this continue to do so, in ways we may have never even imagined?
Moderated by Marischka Verbeek with Ama Boahene, Daantje Bons + more TBA.
