Josephine Zwaan, artist, producer, researcher and founder of a platform for female and non-binary music producers named Rosetta will lead a conversation with Deborah X, one of the founders of DJ and producers collective AMPFEMININE. Based on her foundational work ‘Decolonising the Loop’, which analyzes different DAWs from the lens of certain African philosophies of music, Josephine now continues her explorations, delving into the relationship between music and the body. Again inspired by African philosophies, Josephine researches the body and the dialogues that happen between different bodies on a club dancefloor as well as dialogues between the DJ, the music being played and the people dancing: a sense of co-creation. The core of Josephine’s work is developing a decolonised framework for electronic music production, something not unfamiliar in practice to AMPFEMININE.
