Talk: Music Programming in 2022 & Beyond
With an increasing abundance of music events in recent years, the competition for audience engagement within the cultural sector is as high as ever. In light of everything visitors have to choose from, how can festivals and venues stay relevant in their programming?
While looking critically at the position of programmers as they frame (new) musical experiences for audiences, we discuss the cultural responsibility programmers have toward the showcasing of new sounds, and explore how we can still maintain a creative space for possibilities to emerge through presenting artists in other contexts.
This talk will be moderated by Christina Hazboun. Guest speakers will include: Aleksander Motturi (Clandestino), Loubna el Boujoufi (TivoliVredenburg) and Marcio Laranjeira (Lovers & Lollypops).
