‘SLAM’ is an 1998 independent film starring actor, screenwriter, noise poet and hip hop futurist Saul Williams. The film tells the story of Ray Joshua, a young African-American MC living in a Washington DC district dominated by gang wars known as Dodge City. ‘SLAM’ was Williams’ breakthrough film, now celebrating its 20th anniversary. At the time, it won the Grand Jury Prize for a Dramatic Film at the 1998 Sundance Film Festival.
