Starting DJing at thirteen, Mari Larrington-Nelson, AKA Shy One, was introduced to the flora and fauna of London’s sound early on. Record-collecting soon turned into beat-making for local names in Harrow, the North West London borough she was raised on. Her precocious electronic music sensibilities caught the attention of Scratcha DVA, who went on to release her first EP, 2011’s ‘The Decaffeinated Love’, and her debut LP, ‘Bedknobs & Boomkicks’, the following year. They both showcase Shy One’s fresh style of two-step and UK funky. Since, she has occasionally left the booth to pursue other endeavors, such as multimedia collaborations and performances, namely, with artist Victoria Sin.
