Southeast and East Asia Special w/ Anh Phi (Nhạc Gãy)
Anh Phi is a Vietnamese-French music producer, DJ, and filmmaker, co-founder of Saigon-born collective Nhạc Gãy.
Raised by Vietnamese parents in the suburbs of Paris, he later moved to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) to delve into his roots and heritage. There, he co-founded Nhạc Gãy in 2019, a multi-disciplinary collective and record label exploring shared identities in constant mutation. Anh Phi performed at Boiler Room Saigon, China’s staple nightclubs (ALL Shanghai, OIL Shenzhen, Zhaodai Beijing, TAG Chengdu, Loopy Hangzhou etc.), Seoul Museum Of Art, Equation Festival’s limestone cave, Kuala Lumpur’s cinema venue REXKL, and many more.
His music productions were featured on compilations by Nhạc Gãy, ÖÖÖ and Kaptcha, with his solo debut EP slated for release in the winter of 2023.
He also released mixes for e.g. i-D China, Mixmag Asia, 88Rising Radio, NTS Radio London, and Saigon’s V2X Radio.
After living in Paris, Saigon and Shanghai, Anh Phi is now based in Berlin.
