When Sydney’s Party Dozen (saxophonist Kirsty Tickle and percussionist Jonathan Boulet) settled in Marrickville to record a new album ‘Crime In Australia’, they found the suburb’s crime-laden history trickling into the music. A record split into two came to be; order and disorder, and, as each song grows wilder and grimier than the last, the new album’s theme becomes more and more apparent. Clearly, Party Dozen’s idea of being up to no good resonated; ‘Crime in Australia’ earned album of the week slots on Stereogum, Bandcamp, and maverick hearts in Australia and far beyond.
