Natisa Exocé Kasongo
Hannah Elsisi presents Chromesthesia
Born to Congolese artists in Paris, ‘Afropean’ (Europeans of African descent) hybrid artist Natisa Exocé Kasongo’s work focuses on Afro-Cosmicism, always. Walking in the footsteps of greats Fela Kuti and Sun Ra, the Berlin-based creator echoes the latter’s sentiment; ‘I am the dream of my ancestors’. As such, spirituality is a cornerstone of his work - be it in fashion, music, or dance. By recuperating his country’s cultural heritage, Exocé finds nourishment to create. For Hannah Elsisi’s durational Chromesthesia performance, Natisa Exocé Kasongo has created all choreography.
British-Egyptian award-winning social and intellectual historian Hannah Elsisi presents Chromesthesia, a 13-hour durational performance. From Rio to Cairo, Miami to Kampala, Chromesthesia tracks Afro-diasporic rhythms and explores the history that undergirds Afro-descendant electronic music.
