Athens-raised, Berlin-based pianist, singer, composer, and performer Maroulita de Kol’s belief in the healing power of art comes across in her mythology-infused work, and particularly this year’s album, ‘Anásana’. Skillfully woven with experimental elements that transport the listener to a time and place difficult to define. ‘Arresting’ and ‘majestic’ were two of the adjectives The Guardian chose in an attempt to do so. A founding member of Reverse Mode and Arcangel Trio, de Kol is no stranger to taking her artistry around various stages across the continent, as well as having composed music for theater pieces, performances, films, and documentaries.
