Growing up, Maria BC found peace in solitude. Their liking of seclusion translates into their spectral sound. The Ohio-born, Oakland, CA-based artist cites poet Louise Gluck as an inspiration behind their full-length debut, this year's 'Hyaline'. 'The dreamer is always looking towards a future that can never happen, but the watcher is effectively present', they recall. 'The way I can become more of a watcher is by putting it into music'. Quietly, they hover above the moment, observe, and transmit; when they sing, they are not of this world but can relay it with the unspeaking knowledge of those who watch.
