Lamin Fofana
Hannah Elsisi presents Chromesthesia
This Sierra Leone-born artist’s approach is threefold; Lamin Fofana is as much a DJ and music producer as he is a philosopher of sorts. His work’s socio-cultural depth cannot be understated; and the effects of migration on African identity shake new meaning into each beat struck. The trilogy ‘Black Metamorphosis’, ‘Darkwater’ and ‘Blues’ serves as listening material to begin to understand Fofana’s purpose. It is before the audience that the artist’s proposal really comes to life, as in the case of his showcases at the Venice Biennale, the Tate in Liverpool, and many others.
British-Egyptian award-winning social and intellectual historian Hannah Elsisi presents Chromesthesia, a 13-hour durational performance. From Rio to Cairo, Miami to Kampala, Chromesthesia tracks Afro-diasporic rhythms and explores the history that undergirds Afro-descendant electronic music.
