When describing the cultural shapeshifter Kode9, there is no easy place to begin. A restless sound explorer, Steve Goodman has taken on many roles throughout his career. Not only is he the founder of labels Hyperdub and Flatlines, but he has also contributed to their catalog, be it in collaboration with the late The Spaceape or on his own (as is the case in his latest solo record, ‘Escapology’). Kode9’s creative thirst has led him down other varied musical and artistic rabbit holes, as proven by his work concerning anime, video game music, film series, and artificial intelligence.
