Joseph Shabason
Joseph Shabason demonstrated his mastery of woodwind, horn and brass instruments on iconic records such as Destroyer’s ‘Kaputt’ and The War On Drugs’ ‘Lost In The Dream’. But it’s Shabason’s most recent solo album ‘Anne’ that’s truly a personal, captivating document, collaborating with his mother in what Pitchfork describes as “intergenerational trauma in frank discussions where nothing is held back sonically or emotionally.” It’s music that presents a brave and free-form inverse of the jazz and soft rock stylistics that defined Shabason’s earlier session work.
