Partners in marriage and art, Ibelisse Guardia Ferragutti and Frank Rosaly’s ‘MESTIZX’ builds upon the sounds of their respective ancestral roots in Bolivia, Brazil, and Puerto Rico. Both artists, first independently, now together, have embraced music as an empowering force in a post-colonial world. For Ferragutti, in it lies the map to her destination; the point where grief, beauty, and celebration meet. For Rosaly, the drums came to be a tie to his homeland, a way to ‘take ownership of this in-between’. Together, they foster something authentic, but always joyous. For Le Guess Who?, the duo create a special new performance, fitting the setting of the Jacobikerk.
