Wolfgang Voigt's groundbreaking project GAS is the sound of organic matter and technology living in perfect harmony. As he himself puts it: 'bring the forest to the disco and vice versa'. Voigt structures his ambient/techno hybrid by distorting and sculpting existing samples beyond recognition on top of narcotic four-to-the-floor beats. GAS encompasses a beautiful future world that's moved on from humankind, with nature once again enfolding itself over the man-made structures of days past. Narkopop, Voigt's first GAS album in nearly two decades, was released this year on Kompakt.
