Led by the mainstay of Montreal’s avant-jazz, experimental, and improvisational music community Jason Sharp and poet and writer Kaie Kellough, the explosive nine-piece FYEAR compounds music, text, voice, and visuals. Make no mistake, however; no matter how genre-bending (sipping from jazz, post-classical, ambient metal, avant-rock, and electronic music), this ambitious collective's work is no collage or pastiche. Instead, they hold up a mirror to the frenzy of today's world, in a carefully calculated, yet expansive mixed-media performance years in the making.
