Film: iwoyi: within the echo
Tayo Rapoport and Rohan Ayinde present their debut collaborative project, titled iwoyi: within the echo (2024). This innovative film investigates the radical potential of Black British music in envisioning reparative futures. The project has been developed in partnership with Errol and Alex Rita’s Touching Bass. Translated from a 5-screen, 16 minute immersive installation, this 9 minute single-screen version of “iwoyi,” dances in the footsteps of the original work, interlacing original film content, personal archival footage, and an original score composed by Melo-Zed into a transformative story on the power of collective dreaming into a shared future.
The screening will be followed by a discussion with co-directors Tayo Rapoport and Rohan Ayinde, moderated by Richard Kofi.
