Doug Hream Blunt

In the late 80’s, Doug Hream Blunt moonlighted music with a job at a care home in San Francisco. As a relative late bloomer at age 35, he started writing songs after attending a How To Start A Band-course, playing his lo-fi brand of soul, funk and R&B for patients. At the time, a viable career in music seemed like a cul de sac, unbeknownst that his shoestring-version of said stylistics would be in vogue three decades down the line. Eventually Luaka Bop (David Byrne’s label, who also exhumed William Onyeabor’s music) reissued lost album ‘Gentle Persuasion’, which earned Blunt new fans in Ariel Pink and Dean Blunt. The latter’s stage name is actually a homage to him.
