Chris Pattishall

Pianist and composer Mary Lou Williams first performed ‘The Zodiac Suite’, now regarded as a breakthrough in the history of jazz, to mixed audience reactions. Over seven decades later, the piece was recovered by Chris Pattishall, the pianist with ‘a forthright relationship to jazz tradition’, (as per the New York Times). His phantasmagorical interpretation of the suite garnered critics’ attention, as BBC Music Magazine described it as ‘a plangent, attention-holding tour de force’. Pattishall is known for his meticulous, empathic, and surrealist playing, and has been featured on the scores of films such as ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’, but this might just be his most cinematic performance yet.
