Caterina Barbieri + Space Afrika with MFO
When you merge the transformative power of Italian musician and composer Caterina Barbieri with Space Afrika’s spacious urban dubscapes (plus the unique visual narration of Marcel Weber or MFO), the result is something unheard and unseen. It was freshly revealed at Berlin Atonal 2023, and will later be reproduced at Le Guess Who?. On paper, the collaborators’ distinct musical and visual realms will bring forth a world where Barbieri’s vertiginous musical patterns meet Space Africa’s fleshy and human sounds in a magical encounter. In reality, only those present will be able to tell what will happen; but, surely, it will be something very special, as all three entities on the stage are veterans in bringing transcendence to concert audiences.
