Bill Orcutt & Zoh Amba
Sunday
Bill Orcutt and Zoh Amba are both musicians with an inkling for imagination. The first is the former guitarist and founder of Harry Pussy; his sound, a stuttered transformation of the blues guitar. The latter is a composer, saxophonist, and flutist hailing from Tennessee, whose music mixes everything from avant-garde to noise to devotional hymns. This summer, they combined their creative drive for ‘The Flower School’, made with drummer and regular collaborator of both Chris Corsano. The record displays the three musicians at the top of their game, connecting on a level that is both intellectual and primal.
