Bristol’s Batu, as well as his tight-knit Timedance label, have become staples of the city’s night sound. Treading new ground relentlessly has become the producer and his label’s signature sound, as they have both been credited as one of the most vital proponents of new and exciting UK dance music. Batu has also provided his community with valuable music-making resources by setting up the First Light Studio in Bristol, offering a free-to-use studio for financially disadvantaged producers. This year, we invite him to curate a club night in Utrecht’s WAS - a perfectly suited habitat for his progressive approach to dance music.
